Database Editor

Welcome to The FindChamberMusic Database , a joint project between The American Composers Forum and The Amateur Chamber Music Players. Free of charge, this online resource is designed to give chamber musicians easy access to information about standard and contemporary chamber music, while providing composers with a platform to promote their chamber music works to chamber musicians and potential patrons.

Amateur chamber musicians of today possess a keen appetite for contemporary music--a desire to expand their repertoire, as well as to explore the music of current times and to better understand the creative innovations which are nourishing musical tradition. The fundamental hurdle, however, lies in the difficulty of obtaining information about, and access to, contemporary chamber music works.

With this database, we intend to address that hurdle--and go beyond. To cultivate an international online community where performers and music-lovers can convene and interact with music's creators, engaging in an ongoing dialogue of questions, suggestions, opinions and recommendations.

This project will be in continuous evolution, and we look forward to your feedback and suggestions for improvements and enhancements.

How does it work?

  1. Using the left toolbar, click on the appropriate link to add or delete a work, composer, publisher or instrument.

    Adding a Work
Chamber music is defined here as "music for small ensembles, whose members generally perform one to a part without a conductor."

    Difficulty Grading
One of the benefits of this database is to inform musicians of the approximate difficulty of a piece. When adding a new work, please be sure to assign a rating between 1 and 5 indicating the approximate difficulty of the piece (as indicated by the examples from standard repertoire).

    Audio and Score Files
Providing links to scores and audio files of your works will allow musicians to get a quick idea of the work.

    Notes
Including descriptive notes about the work will enable it to appear in searches seeking specific key words such as "lyrical," "tonal," etc.

    Adding a Composer
If this is your first time submitting works to the database, you can include your bio and website link, so that musicians interested in contacting you directly can do so.

  2. Clicking "submit" will immediately upload your entry to the database. You can review your submission by clicking on "Edit or Delete" under the appropriate category and entering a search for the new entry.
